Tri-County Regional Chamber's Letter of Support for Passage of COVID-19 Liability Protections Statement

South Carolina Chamber of Commerce (SC Chamber) President and CEO Bob Morgan today issued the following statement regarding the South Carolina House of Representatives giving 2nd Reading to S.147, the COVID-19 Liability Immunity Act, which has already passed the Senate:

“The South Carolina legislature made a definitive statement today that it supports businesses in our state. The passage of temporary and limited immunity from liability will give businesses the certainty they need to continue to operate and grow our economy post-pandemic. Thank you to the local chambers, trade association partners, businesses and institutions of higher learning that made their voices heard; this bill would not have moved forward without their support and advocacy. We appreciate the leadership of Governor McMaster, Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey and House Speaker Jay Lucas, along with the strong bi-partisan group of supporters in both the House and the Senate – this bill’s passage is yet another example that South Carolina is one of the most pro-business states in the country.”
